Born Inside Her Heart {Newborn Photography Seattle-Tacoma-Puyallup}

Adoption is such a beautiful thing.  Listening to Christine tell the story of how she and Caleb found each other during our session together made my heart so full.  Caleb had only been with her a short few days and already held a part of her heart.  That is amazing to me.  Women generally have 9 months to foster a bond with a child before they even come into the world.  And yet here sat Christine smiling as she told me how much she loved him already and couldn’t stand to be away from him.  That is just such an amazing thing.  A testament to womanhood and motherhood about our capacity to love.  Caleb has found the perfect place and will be loved beyond measure by this sweet mother and her family.

That day, after Christine and Caleb went home, I sat pondering about adoption.  It is a miracle to me that a mother can give a child to another.  That monumental decision reflects such an amazing gift of selflessness.   To know that you can not offer the love and environment a child needs to thrive and seek out someone who can requires a humble heart.  I am so grateful that Caleb’s birth mom was able to give him this great gift.  She gave him life and then gave him opportunity for love and happiness.

Someday Caleb will ask Christine where babies come from.  I can image Christine telling him how most babies grow inside a mother’s womb.  But that he is special.  Caleb was born inside Christine’s heart.

Once there were two women who never knew each other.
One you do not remember the other you call Mother.
Two different lives, shaped to make yours one.
One became your guiding star; the other became your sun.
One gave you a nationality; the other gave you a name.
One gave you the seed of talent; the other gave you an aim.
One gave you emotions; the other calmed your fears.
One saw your first sweet smile; the other dried your tears.
One gave you up, it was all that she could do.
The other prayed for a child and God led her straight to you.
And now you ask me through your tears.
The age-old questions through the years:
Heredity or environment, which are you a product of?
Neither my child, neither; just two different kinds of love.
