What would you do if you had three really awesome boys and you found out that your new baby was going to be a girl. A GIRL! I think I would die. Seriously. There must have been so much joy and happiness at that sonogram appointment a few months. And now their little world has been bombarded with pink and bows and all things ladylike. Not that she won’t some day become a Nobel prize winning rocket scientist.
Welcome to this world Claire. You are going to be SO loved! I can just imagine all the attention your three brothers are going to bestow on you. They are going to be solid allies! I imagine all of your girlfriends as you are growing up are going to be extra nice to you because they are crushing on your handsome big brothers, lol. I am just so happy for you and your family. And just in case you ever forget how 100% totally adorable you were as a brand new, one week old baby…here you go. It is a new year! And little William was my very first client. What a great little person to start off my new year. William has changed a lot since his sitting session with me. Mostly he is a little scooting machine! It was such a cold day that I had my heater on to keep William toasty during his portrait session. But his mom and I basically just did an hour of hot yoga, lol. I always forget how mobility changes motherhood forever. Gone are the days of the sitting baby (best phase of toddler-hood ever). William’s eyes are my favorite facial feature of his. Of my gosh they are so expressive and lined with lashes for days. They are gorgeous. So I tried really hard to get a great close up to show them off. He thinks his mommy is pretty funny, she was able to get lots of little grins and giggles for me to capture. I hope this little muffin has the very best year!

Penelope was my last newborn session for 2017. She was the perfect little person to finish a great year with. What a sweet little bit she is. Tiny and yet sweet and chill. Sometimes little babies are the hardest because they tend to want to eat more frequently and sleep less soundly until they put on a bit of weight. Penny was a little angel. Her parents gave her the middle name, Winter. It is so perfect for a Christmas baby. Her mom brought several just right things to go with a a Winter theme. This sweet little one made the cutest little snowman ever. I think it was so special that the week she was born we had snow and the first white Christmas that we have had here in a long time. She is a breath of fresh air in a world that needs her innocence. Penny’s mom and dad have been very patient to see their little girl pictures because I have been on a Holiday break. I finished my year with their daughter and began the new year with her as I have been working on editing and preparing her portraits. I hope a New Year’s resolution for this wonderful family includes printing some of these beautiful portraits and decorating the walls of their home with them. Because isn’t she just adorable!

Lauren’s mom hired me to be her University Place baby photographer and to capture her daughter’s one year milestones with a cake smash photography session. She was super wonderful to work with. I loved that she knew exactly what she wanted and communicated that to me in such a kind and easy going manner. I love clients like her! She told me ahead of time that Lauren can be a little timid around strangers. So I was expecting a little girl who would cling to her mommy and be difficult to photograph. The Lauren I met was the most charming little girl. She had such gentle manners and was full of smiles. I must have caught her on one of her good “stranger” days. It was such a pleasure to work with and to capture her beautiful little one year old self. I love that the outfits, props and backdrops that Lauren’s mom choose are all so cohesive. Lauren’s session images will look fabulous in an album, because they are all so complimentary to each other. It was super hard to pick favorites from her session to share as sneak peeks. Bennett’s mom has the perfect theme for her son’s cake smash birthday session. She choose “Where The Wild Things Are”. I have never been a huge fan of that book even though I have it in my library because it is a classic. But as a theme for parties it is THE BEST! I love the color scheme and patterns that my client used in pulling fabrics for the awesome banner that she made. It is so perfect, I told her she needs to sell it when she is done with it. And then the crown, and the wood tray…all perfect accents. Little Bennett is too wild though, thank goodness. No need to chase him around the studio. He was a perfect gentleman and full of the happiest smiles. I was able to get so many pictures of him that I love. The hardest part of his whole session was persuading him to hand me back my bell that I use as a toy in the studio to get little one’s attention. He loved my bell. I told his parents that is all he needs for Christmas, lol. I love getting to do birthday sessions for returning clients. It is so fun to see little ones that I photographed as newborns come back so that I can see how much they have changed and to witness the little people that they are growing to be.
