Sharing is caring. At least that is what they say. But to image that a one year old has any capacity for sharing is quite the stretch of the imagination. At that age, there typically isn’t anything further from the truth. But Taylor is extraordinary. She has a capacity for sharing that I have never seen matched by any toddler even close to her age. I wonder if that means she is going to be some super awesome woman some day, running a “real” non-profit out there saving the world. I called it right here folks. I wouldn’t be surprised. She wanted to share EVERYTHING. We took a portrait of her in a set with all of her mommies fun jewelry. She handed me her bracelet. We took a picture of her with her mom’s super awesome green fancy shoes (I WANT) and she tried to pass them to me when her mommy wasn’t looking. Also, she is a mind reader, lol. I put together a set where she got to hold flowers. It was all I could do to avoid flowers in the face as she tried to share every single one she could get her hands on. And naturally she wanted to share her cake with me. Handful after handful of cake was sweetly presented to me. I’m sure she left wondering why I didn’t want any of her pretty and in the case of the cake, yummy, things. I just love her. She is only one and has a bigger better heart than most of the people in this world. If only we could all be a little more like Taylor! Happy birthday little princess. You are going to do BIG things someday!

It is so neat to watch a mother that you admire and believe in take the whole motherhood gig and kick it up a notch. I have been Meghann’s Puyallup baby photographer for several years now. I can remember when she brought me her first baby. A perfect little girl with yummy roles and the most transparent blond hair, she might has well have been an angel. And then her little son, full of cheesy smiles. When she told me she was expecting twins I knew she was the perfect mommy for the job. She jumped right in, ready to conquer something new. I would have been so overwhelmed. I still remember her post on social media about her first outing with 4 kids in tow. She knows how to go beast mode with parenthood, that is for sure. As I was preparing the sneak peek from Owen and Emily’s session I wondered what twin moms consider the greatest blessings of having twins. I got lost down a rabbit whole reading all sorts of posts, memoirs and advice columns for moms of multiples. One thing is for sure. The support group for mom’s with multiples is strong. What a wonderful community. Here are some of my favorite things that moms like shared. I wonder if Meghann feels the same.
- After you get over the twinshock it really is true that you get double the love and joy although you may have to wait a while to really feel the benefit.
- Having twins brings lots of attention! (don’t know if that is a plus or minus, lets say a plus on most days hopefully)
- Parenting happens in stages and many moms found it much easier to manage two infants or two toddlers than having to try and juggle the needs of a baby and a pre-schooler. These phases of parenthood are experienced more intensely sometimes because they are simultaneous.
- It’s always exciting to see your child meet a milestone. But when two or more multiples accomplish their goals simultaneously. it’s a wonderful experience for a family.
- It’s such fun to hear them share jokes. call each other by nicknames and role play their special scenarios. What a sweet sound those giggles are and its so lovely to hear them laugh or sing together, not at each other, but with each other.
- It’s fascinating to be an observer of twins. With so many similarities. but such stark differences. it’s always interesting to see how they develop as individuals.
- There is a little thrill of pride in being a mum of twins. It’s like being a part of an elite club. You feel an instant bond with other parents of multiples. I love the reaction I get when I tell people I have twins. “Wow!” “I always wanted twins…” “I don’t know how you do it…” It’s almost like we enjoy an exclusive status in the parenting world. earning a slight nod of respect for pulling double duty.
- Twins share everything — their birthday. their parents’ attention. and many of their belongings. Although they may get frustrated with their situation. as a parent. it’s very gratifying to witness their “what’s mine is yours” attitude in a moment of unselfish benevolence.
- The twin bond is more enduring than any other relationship on earth. Starting even before birth and often outlasting many friendships and even marriages. Despite their squabbles, it’s comforting to know that they will (hopefully) enjoy their unique relationship for all of their lives.
- There is a confidence that twins exhibit simply because they have always had each other to rely on. I love to watch them enter new unfamiliar situations with confidence because they are together. – Twins UK
As a Puyallup baby photographer I always hope I am going to run into my little clients throughout the year while I am out running errands and doing my grocery shopping. But it hardly ever happens. Makes you realize just how big Puyallup is. I’m going to be keeping my eye out for Camden though, because he has such a contagious happiness about him. I know it will make my day to see him. Camden’s mom came very prepared for his cake smash milestone session. She had a handful of great outfits and the his favorite stuffed animal and had coordinated banner, cake and balloons beautifully. I love the colors she choose. Camden was so sweet with his stuffed elephant that the series of those portraits from his session are my clear favorites. I will be curious to see which pictures end up being the favorites of his parents. Maybe it will be the ones of him lounging like a cake eating boss. Those are pretty awesome.

“And there will be someone
that comes along one day
and offers you an entire galaxy
when you only expected a single planet.”

I am a maternity photographer. I photograph miracles in the beautiful beginnings. The start of something that will grow to be everything. The continuation of something fantastic. You expect to be holding soon a little baby. But when that moment comes when you have that perfect beginning of a person in your hands you will hold your whole world. Not a planet that revolves around your sun. But a galaxy, all it’s own. I am so excited for this family to bring into their home their first child. What a blessing. What a gift. Just a few more weeks and I will be able to share beautiful newborn portraits that will look so perfectly beautiful next to mom’s maternity portraits.
I absolutely love growing families and I love being their Tacoma newborn photographer! It makes me so happy to hear that there is a new baby on the way. Trevor is baby number three for this wonderful family. I have photographed all three perfectly adorable kids as infants. One big sister and two little brothers are the jewels in this mother’s crown. As her little ones grow layer after layer of wonderful memories will become a beautiful comforting source of happiness. As my own children are growing and leaving home I look back and treasure the memories I made with my own brood. Trevor, like his brother was right at home during his newborn photo session. Trevor’s big sister and big brother were so happy to have a new little brother. They were wonderfully cooperative and I am so happy with the sibling images I will be sending this mommies way. I know she will love them. Such happy smiles.
