Gig Harbor Baby Photographer ~ Aubrey

Aubrey came to the studio this last week for a baby milestone session.  She is a champ at sitting.  I imagine it won’t be long until she is up and walking.  These “sitting” sessions are my very favorite.  Aubrey’s mom brought an extra special outfit from home.  This handmade cape and and the matching booties have been passed down though a few generations.  Sometimes things are just so classic that they stand the test of time and style.  Aubrey looks like a little baby doll.  I love having her and her brother in the studio.  Over the years you build a relationship with your clients and it is always so good to see them again.  I am super excited for Aubrey’s birthday portraits which will be right around the corner.

Eatonville Newborn Photographer ~ Baby Hans

I have been both of these boys newborn photographer.  Henry has grown up so much and his little brother, Hans, looks just like him.  Two handsome little boys.  Hans was such a chub!  Nine and a half pounds of chubby perfection.  When I get a big baby in the studio for baby portraits I am always super excited.  Those sweet cheeks definitely make newborn pictures look their best.  Hans really liked to be wrapped.  The only way I was going to get any pictures of him asleep or not, was if he was snug as a bug.  Maybe he was super modest and envisioned these beautiful portraits in his wedding slideshow, lol.  Henry was so patient as I photographed his baby brother.  He was super careful when holding him and very tender with his kisses.  I think he and his little brother are going to be the best of friends.  My favorite thing about the styling for Han’s session is how all the warm brown tones and the rich greens really make Han’s creamy skin stand out.  These pictures would look amazing in an album because they all compliment each other so well.  Which of my favorites from this sweet muffin’s photo shoot is your favorite?

100 Days Seattle Baby Photographer ~ Emma

Every milestone is special in your baby’s first year, but some milestones hold greater significance than others.  I love the Korean tradition of celebrating a baby’s 100th day.  After booking a few 100 day sessions for families a few years ago, I had to look up and learn about this tradition which was totally foreign to me.

“Long ago in Korea childhood diseases were common and the survival rate for new born babies was very low. The high death rate was due to a lack of medical information, poor hygiene, Korea’s harsh winters and humid summers, and many other childhood related diseases. To protect their children and to give the best chance of survival, parents refrained from taking the baby outdoors until the 100th day after the birth. On that 100th day, a family would traditionally pray and give food offerings to thank the Shaman spirit of childbirth for the child having survived this difficult period. If the child was sick at this time, the family would pass the day without celebration or party as this would be considered bad luck for the infant. At this time in Korea, the 100th day was seen as a critical day of a child’s life.

Traditionally the number 100 has a deep meaning of maturity in Korea; making it past the first 100 days was a sign that you would live to see your first birthday, and making it past your first birthday was a sign that you would make it out of infancy. Improvements in medicine, rapid development and modern industrialization have led to the Shamanistic reasons for the celebration being reduced. The event is still celebrated in modern day Korea as a time of congratulations for the parents and family, however it is important not to forget the traditions and meanings behind the celebration.” (Asiansociety.org)

I am so grateful for the advances in medicine and the standard of living that make it possible for most babies to make it past their 100th day.  I love being part of family traditions and celebrations!

Wishing this beautiful little lady 100 years of happiness!100 days baby photographer100 days baby photography100 days Seattle baby photography100 days baby photographer100 days Seattle baby photographer

Kent Newborn Photographer ~ Baby Ava

If you haven’t read “I’ll Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch, you really must.  When you do be sure to have a couple of tissues ready.

“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”

That phrase encompasses the essence of motherhood.  From the moment you hold your new daughter in your arms you are the protector of her tiny little body, the champion of her self worth, the tutor of her mind and the fairy godmother of her dreams.  You are her everything.  And as those first few minutes transpire, and that little hand wraps around your fingers for the first time you learn in the blink of an eye the precepts of unconditional love.  Your baby will grow and grow and grow and grow.  She will pull all the books off the self, knock over the piles of folded clothes, flush a favorite watch down the toilet, she will challenge your patient and your love until you hit the bed drained at the end of a long day.  But then as you peek at her sleeping and tuck her in before turning in for the night, I promise you, these will be your thoughts.

“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”

What a miracle a baby is.  I am so blessed to be a Kent newborn photographer.  I loved working with this wonderful family to capture the beauty and innocence of their brand new baby girl.  My goal with every photography session is to get those emotions rolling and to have my mommies crying tears of joy as they see for the first time the portraits I have created of their little miracles.  Ava is so perfect in every way and I know she will be a gift and a blessing to her family!

Tacoma newborn photographer ~ Baby Emberlyn

Family!  You family is a circle of strength and love.  With every birth that circle grows.  As a Tacoma newborn photograph I get to capture that moment for families all over Western Washington.  When I send a thank you card to the families I work with I am always sure to include a special thanks for allowing me to be part of such a beautiful time in their family’s history.  I feel like each time that circle grows, either with a birth or with a marriage it is a sacred event.  Maya Angelou once said, “we sustain ourselves with the love of family.”  I feel like that is so true.  Every time I hold a newborn and glance across the studio at exhausted brand new parents I know without a shadow of a doubt that it is love that is fueling them through those sleepless nights.  It is love that binds brothers to their brand new baby sister.  It is love that makes that circle of strength grow stronger and stronger.  When I think back to the times when I brought each of my own children back from the hospital I immediately feel overwhelming feelings of sheer happiness and joy.  When I take portraits of children that is what I hope I am doing for my clients.  Creating a pathway for those beautiful emotions to flow.  Because our families are everything.
