Silas is the newest addition to this wonderful family. They now have two wonderful little boys. Silas’s big brother was so much fun to work with. He was such a great listener and was so gentle with the new baby, he made my job as a Tacoma newborn photographer pretty easy. Every time I get to photograph a new baby with an older sibling it reminds me of how much I loved the bigger age gaps in my own family. Big gaps are wonderful. Silas looks wonderful in the colors that his mom chose for his session. We used a light green and light grey and they go together perfectly. His family will be moving soon and I hope that once they get settle into their new house his parents will have lots of fun decorating the walls of their new home with these beautiful pictures of their boys. I played a little little, and here is something I might do. The possibilities are limitless of course. I always recommend looking up Wall collages on pinterest and in a Google image search for excellent ideas. Sometimes it can feel intimidating choosing what to print and how to arrange your portraits on the wall. Let the work that others have done before you be a spring board into finding something that will work for you!

I am so blessed to be Hazel’s Seattle baby photographer! Looking back at Hazel’s newborn photography session she hasn’t changed all that much. She had her chubby cheeks, gorgeous hair and striking eyes right from the very beginning. Now she is just a toddler version of her little baby self. For a stroll down memory lame you can see baby Hazel here. I am so glad that I have been able to watch Hazel grow throughout her first year. She has been coming to my daughter’s mini holiday sessions and so I have seen her little personality blossom. She is a sparkly little jewel. I can only imagine the happiness she brings to her family. Hazel’s mom wasn’t feeling a big mess with cake, so we kept her session on the more traditional side with a variety of outfits and props to show off this little lady’s big happy smile. She was such a great little super model, I was able to get several pictures that I just adore and I am super excited to share them with her family today. It is hard to pick a favorite, but I think it might be this one of her on the scale showing everyone how big she is. I am guessing her mommy’s favorite might be the next one. She specifically requested a portrait that showcased Hazel’s beautiful eyes.

Twins! Two perfectly grown little people grown together, side by side from the start. It has such a romantic air about it. When I was a little girl I dreamed about being a twin and having twins of my own one day. I would venture that at least half of the little girls in the world have or will at some point in their life fantasize about the idea of twins. But when it happens to you naturally without a family disposition for multiples or fertility treatments it has to be a pretty big surprise. I can just imagine the energy in the room when Meghann was in for her doctors appointment and the instead of one beautiful little heart beat the doctor has her listen to two! Caring for a baby during pregnancy is such a surreal experience, imagine knowing that there are two little people growing! I was so excited when I found out the wonderful news. And then even more happy when Meghann found out that she was expecting a boy and a girl. To me that is perfect. Each baby will have their own unique identity and still have that strong twin connection. Plus the big kids get a brother and a sister. It is just so perfect. When Meghann brought her beautiful babies in for their newborn photography session I was shocked to see how big they were. She laughed at me and told me that her doctor said that Owen is the largest twin he has ever delivered. I believe it. That little muffin was over 8 pounds! I feel so blessed that I have been Meghann’s baby photographer for all four of her sweet children. What a wonderful thing to have been able to follow along with this awesome family as they grow. I am super excited to share these sneak peeks with this family. They have been with me from the very beginning and I love being a part of these special moments with them.

I am so glad that Canaan’s mom decided to hire me as her Puyallup newborn photographer. Lots of things happen in life that sometimes make us put plans and dreams on a shelf. Even good things get forgotten when you are overwhelmed by even greater things. This often happens to mothers of newborns. If ever little thing isn’t planned and on the calendar before baby arrives sometimes by the time you remember to contact a newborn photographer it can get a little tricky. Sometimes there are just more important things that fill the days and newborn photography gets pushed to the back of the priority list. There are hundreds of reasons things happen. One thing I like to tell any mom that inquires with me is that it is never too late for portraits of your baby.
Canaan’s mom is going to absolutely love these beautiful portraits of her precious son. I hope! He was such a little angel. Even with his cast he was easier to pose than many babies that I have photographed over the years. I loved getting to meet his mom and to hear about his delivery. When I write thank you cards to my clients I always tell them that I feel very blessed to be a part of such a special time in their lives. Being a Puyallup newborn photographer is an honor! And boy do I know it!

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. And this year a brand new mom will be celebrating at home because Ford has induced into the stratum of motherhood. From here on out because of him she will a new woman. One of my favorite quotes about women, and I wish I knew who to credit it to is, “Birth takes a woman’s deepest fears about herself and show her that she is stronger than them.” She will become more than she ever was before, more than she thought possibly to stretch to, more than that even. Because as Ford grows she will grow even faster. She will find within her wells of strength, compassion, love and endurance that were never before even tapped. Motherhood is a woman’s crowning glory. I am so excited to be Ford’s Seattle newborn photographer. With the portraits I take I feel like I am documenting not only this little babies very beginnings in life, his innocence and teeny tiny perfection. I am photographing the birth of a mother too. Like a caterpillar that has been hibernating in his cocoon, Ford’s mom has stretched her wings and will fly. What a lucky little boy he is.
