A couple of weeks ago my husband returned from a camping trip with a surprise for me. He had brought me home four beautiful pieces of old tree bark covered in lush mosses and little baby ferns. The pieces were meant for our yard, but when I saw them I was so excited. I knew at once that before they found a home in our garden I needed to photograph a baby on them. As a newborn photographer I have been so busy building my business and working on client work that I haven’t even once did something creative just because I had an idea and needed to make it happen. Adyline is the very first newborn model I have ever invited to my studio to be the shining star of a creative project. I still thinking of a name for it. Something along the lines of Washington’s newborn. I need to get my creative word juices flowing. It will be a series of three stunning newborn portraits showcasing Adyline and the beautigul state of Washington that she was born in. I am still working on a shot, so I am not ready to share them yet. But when I do, I promise you will be amazed. Adyline was the perfect model because she is seriously the most beautiful baby girl in the history of ever! After I got the shots that I needed for my creative project I spent a few minutes getting mommy some shots of her baby girl that would loook beautiful in her nursery and that I could get her sooner than the others. Here is Addy, my first newborn model and the prettiest little girl ever!

I love being a Bonney Lake maternity photographer! Meghann has the most beautiful, sweet children and I knew she would want them to be a big part of her maternity photography session. It is funny that we are only celebrating Mila’s first birthday! She is a beautifully tall young lady and already wearing 2T clothing. By the time she is 8 she will be taller than me, and so lovely with her warm smile and twinkling eyes. Daddy and Mommy have a really beautiful daughter to love. My favorite part of Mila’s cake smash photo shoot was witnessing her love for a very special teddy bear. When her Grandpa passed away her family made a teddy bear out of one of his t-shirts and gave it to her as a happy memory of him. It was often times how I got her to smile. I would hold up papa bear and she would give me a big, beautiful smile and wave at us. What a sweet and meaningful idea that was to create such a special heirloom. I have many clients who come in for photography sessions with their toddlers and they bring their old teddies from their childhood. I image a beautiful portrait in the future of Mila’s little girl with her own teddy bear and her moms. We also had a little cake smash at her photo shoot. It is such a fun way to celebrate the end of a big year full of big milestones. Mila was a bigger fan of her bath afterwards than she was of the sticky frosting on her cake. I suppose I like a nice warm bath better than cake too. Happy birthday to a sweet little beauty!

One year older and one year wiser! Mila is celebrating her first birthday with a cake smash. She was a rock star with her itty bitty ponytail and spunky personality. Her mom made a beautiful cake for her. I am always so amazed by the talents of my clients. Who has time to learn how to pipe roses onto to cake? Some moms are just born with all of the skills. It’s too bad babies most the time don’t know how to appreciate the yummy dessert being placed before them. For most it is their first experience with cake. Sometimes a little touches the frosting and that is just the end. It is so sticky and gooey and won’t come off their hands. Not all babies love their cake smash cake. But I ALWAYS (with the exception of one little girl) manage to get great cake smash pictures. Mila will be having her family birthday party in just a few short days. I wonder if her second experience with cake will go even better. My bet is that she will be eating it by the fists full. Happy birthday to a beautiful little lady! I hope her next year is filled with wonderful experiences and people!

Keira’s parents hired me to be their Gig Harbor newborn photographer. When I met there family I was so excited to be working with such a pretty baby girl. And then I met her big sister. This family has been blessed with a wonderful gene pool, lol. Keira’s mom wanted me to use some pretty pinks for her sessions and specifically requested that I photographer her beautiful baby girl handing from my cherry blossom branch. I was a little nervous about making that happen at the beginning of Keira’s portrait session. In order for me to do a hanging branch shot, two things need to happen. First baby needs to be a very sound sleeper. Second baby needs to be easy pose. Keira didn’t start out being either of those things. It took a little snack time with mom and some swaddling and cuddling from me and I was eventually able to coax Keira into a good little nap. And that hanging branch shot, for which I am so well know was a piece of cake! It is the most requested shot that I do. And this branch in particular I think is the most lovely. I hope her parents will print an awesome 24×36 canvas and hang it over her crib in her nursery! I am so blessed to be a Gig Harbor newborn photographer! I love creating beautiful portraits for families.
