Being a Seattle newborn photographer means I get to meet lots of really amazing families. On top of that I get to meet them at one of the highest points in their lives, when they have brought a new baby into the family. What a wonderful job I have. I love getting to meet happy moms, proud dads and really awesome and helpful big brothers (and sisters). Working with people and getting to know them, even briefly is so fulfilling. The best part of my job though is hands down getting to deliver portraits to moms that I know are going to make them cry tears of joy. What could be any better? A beautiful fine art print of your perfect daughter, posed perfectly is just the greatest gift I could ever give to anyone. It is a memory and a feeling captured forever. Little Roya (who has the most amazing name) was such a good little muffin during her session. She is so perfect. Just look at those cheeks and all that gorgeous hair! I am so excited to share my favorites from her session. But there is so much more. So many beautiful picture of her with her big brother too. I just absolutely LOVE my job!

Do you remember bringing your first baby home? Can you remember the way the feeling in your home instantly changed? Can you still feel the hints of the those overwhelming feelings of joy and happiness, tenderness and peace that overwhelmed your whole being when the two of you became the three of you? Portraits are the time machines that take us back to all of that. When I look at my photo albums and the pictures of my children as babies and see myself holding them I see that smile on my face and I feel it all, all over again. It is the absolute best thing in the world that we are so visually minded and that a simple picture is all that it takes to unlock all the wonderful memories are brains lock away. These days of overwhelming feeling of all the good things belong to James’s parents right now. They are living the best part right now. I swear there isn’t anything that beats it. At least I haven’t experienced it yet. There are many wonderful and exciting and still overwhelming perfect moments waiting for this family in their future. But with a baby it is just different. It is a whole new level of peaceful perfection. I am so happy to be a part of that. To be the memory maker. The keeper of feelings. The create of the time machine that James’s mom and dad will use over and over again to go back to this day and the ones before, the day they brought a perfect little boy into the world to share their lives with!

White, Pink and Flowers…those were my marching orders for this sweet baby girl’s newborn photography session. After having four beautiful, healthy and awesome little boys this wonderful family welcomed home a princess last month and they were all about girlishness! We had lace, flowers, dolls, teddy bears, bonnets, ribbons, pearls…all the things. This little princess was lavished with everything beautiful I could put together for her. The best part of the session was capturing the very beginnings of the beautiful relationships she will have with her FOUR big brothers. They each had they own turn to hold her and love her. They sang to her, stroked her fuzzy head and there were endless kisses. They love her so much and it was such a pleasure to capture their joy and wonder. She is their princess. I worked really hard to create some amazing art for this special family. They are returning clients and showered me with love. I was really well taken care of let me tell you. When I told them how much I loved Chick-fil-a’s frozen lemonade, I had one an hour later. They loaded my pantry with homegrown heirloom tomatoes and the most delicious grapes I have ever tasted (from seeds brought from their family home in Moldova). And to top it all off, just last night I prepared salmon from dinner from the fresh caught wild filets they shared with me. Talk about being a pampered photographer. I am going to post all of my favorites on my facebook page so that you can all help me choose with ones to print for their package. I think they need an extra print for being the most generous people. Plus when you have a daughter after four boys you deserve all the extras in life!

Earlier this month I was out of town for a few weeks. I was so excited to come back home because I knew I had two perfect little boys waiting for their newborn photographer! Benjamin was born right after I left town. I love working with his family and so I couldn’t wait to meet him. Once I knew what colors his mom wanted me to use during his session I had lots of fun styling and preparing his session with a few special portraits in mind for his mommy. I got some awesome shots of him with Benjamin and his big sister who was a perfect angle as usual. He even got a special portrait or two with his Grandma who was in town visiting just especially to meet him. I decided to save all of those shots for his family’s package. But here are my own personal favorite shots from his session. I think he looks so perfect in green with his dark, full head of hair.

This photographer is on fire. No really, I am, lol. I am so excited about the art I have been creating for families this summer. I am so excited to share this sneak peek with Oliver’s family today! Their little prince was born right before I left town for my son’s out of state wedding. They waited patiently for me to return home so that they could have their special day with me celebrating the arrival of their new little son. I was super excited to see his awesome big sister. The last I had visited with her was at her one year portrait session. She was amazing. Such a great helper and so sweet with her brand new baby brother. I have been using this cute little onsie in my newborn sessions lately even though it was made for sitting babies that are much older and bigger. I think it is so perfect even when it is a little too big. Definitely time to invest in some newborn sized ones from this amazing vendor! She makes amazing things for me. It was so hard to pick a favorite! But these first three are definitely my top pics! I wish I could be there when Mom gets to see these for the first time!
