Today I feel like the very best Seattle newborn photographer ever! I am so proud of this little angel’s session. I photographed her big brother a few years ago and was so excited to hear that this wonderful family was celebrating the arrival of a baby girl. And I do SO LOVE photographing baby girls. Maybe that comes from having three daughters that I love to spoil. I used berry colors for Isabelle’s session because I feel like they are perfect summer colors. Especially with her arrival being at the peak of blackberry season which is the very best part of the year if you ask me. Isabella came to see me in the studio right before I left town for my son’s wedding and I have been working on these images while celebrating happy times with my own family which makes me extra emotionally connected to her session. I have been on pins and needles with excitement to return home to work and to share my favorites from her session. SO MANY BEAUTIFUL PORTRAITS! How will her poor mom choose favorites to print and grace the walls of their home? I have no idea. I would hang them all up and the whole house would be a shrine to Isabella’s sweet cherubic perfection. So let’s wish her all the luck in the world. She is going to need it!

What Are Little Boys Made Of?
Boys are mad of chuckles & grins,
Tousled hair and banged-up shins,
Things with wheels & frogs in pockets
Questions, baseball caps, & rockets;
They’re joy & mischief, fun & noise-
That’s how it is – boys will be boys!
I am so excited for this awesome family who just welcomed a baby boy into their family! My own son is celebrating his 21st birthday today. And I think back about his childhood and how much joy he brought us and how fun he made life at home. Boys are such a blessing. They keep you on your toes that is for sure. I thought it would be fun to do a silly internet search about why it is awesome to have a boy. I loved this list!
1. Boy’s toys are cooler!
2. Getting out of the house is easier! (no fussing over hair)
3. Public restrooms (Don’t touch anything)
4. It’s fun and exciting to parent someone who is not like you.
5. Boys speak their mind!
6. They love their mommies in a special way.

Normally when I am posting a sneak peek for a newborn session I try to choose my five favorite images. I don’t want to over do it. Plus I want to keep some of the best images as a surprise for families when they receive their package from me in the mail. Because EVERYONE loves surprises. With Emilio’s session I couldn’t hold back. Way too many images that I love and want to share RIGHT NOW. Plus there are so many great shots that I can still keep some in reserve just for the family. Emilio was a great little sleeper and he brought with him his adorable big sister. So there were lots of opportunities to create beautiful images. I even got to use my brand new romper that I purchased for my studio wardrobe from Silly Gus Designs. Normally I have big siblings join us part way into the session when it is their turn to pose with the baby. Emilio’s parents thought it best to let big sister stay the whole session. She is going through that stranger danger phase and her Mom and Dad thought it would be best to give her a warming up period. It was a brilliant decision. By the time it was her turn she was much more comfortable and we were able to include her. Just a great example that sometimes parents know best! And we got great pictures with her. I’m saving all of those for her family. So here we go…my favorites!

It always comes as a shock when you have your baby on your hip going about your daily routine, when you realize that one year has gone by. One whole year in the blink of an eye. A year filled with so many first. The first time she looked you in the eye and knew you. The first time she smiled. Her first laugh. That first spoon of baby food that ended up all over her cheek instead of in her mouth. The first step and the feeling of holding that chubby baby hand in your that brought you so much joy. The first tear, the first hug…so many memories. A baby’s first year has got to be the most emotional charged year of life possible. And here she is celebrating her first birthday and you wonder just how fast all of the next years will fly by. And you tell her, like every other mother, to please not grow up and to stay little just for you. But she won’t listen. She will continue to blossom and glow and she turns into the amazing young lady she is destined to be. And so you have your memory and your photographs. One of those fades, the other will not. When I look back at pictures of my own children, and all those priceless memories and emotions come flooding back, I know that what I do for families is a work that is so valuable. With pictures I can lock in time your greatest joys, your most cherished memories, your greatest accomplishments. It is an honor and a privilege to be a photographer. Happy Birthday little Ruby! You have a light in your smile that is contagious. You warm the soul with that twinkle in your eye. And all the love you are lucky to have you!

This family makes me happy. They have it all figured out. At least that is how I feel every time I get to see them come in to my studio. They know how to love each other. There is a feeling of family unity that surrounds them. They are a team where every player is important and significant. You can see it. You can feel it. And I hope every time that I photograph a new baby for them that I somehow manage to capture on camera. At least a little bit. Baby Brynn welcome to one of the coolest families around. How lucky you are to be theirs.
Lucky for us little little angel arrived right in time for us to squeeze in her newborn photography session right before I left town for a month. A three days old she ties with the youngest, newest baby I have ever photographed. There is something spiritual about holding a baby that new. What a miracle. All of those perfect pieces coming together in nine short months to create something so perfect. I get all the feels, even now just writing about it.
Brynn’s family has been so patient waiting for me to return and finish the work on her session images. I am super excited to finally be sharing them.
