Much loved.  If I had two words to describe this little lady those are the words I would choose.  Phoebe has a fan club not unlike the paprazzi crews of the rich and famous.  I love that as her Tacoma Baby Photographer I get to be the one to take her official portraits.  This is what it must feel like to be a photographer to the celebrities.  I feel like some of my images are about to hit the front cover of People magazine and I am giddy with the response I will get from her fans.  It’s silly, I know, but I swear that is how it feels to be Phoebes Tacoma newborn photographer.  And it is all because she is just loved so dang much.  I love following her family on Facebook.  I try to friend request all of my newborn clients so that I can keep in touch and see my little newborn photography clients grow into toddlers and awesome kids.  Her mom and dad post the sweetest pictures of her and they just gush.  It isn’t like my facebook page when I gush about one of my kids.  People flock to their pages and agree whole heartily that she is the cutest, smartest, slimiest baby around.

So without further ado, because really, who wants to hear from me anyway.  Here is the worlds cutest baby girl, according to her adoring fan club;-)

A Baby is a Blessing
A Gift from Heaven above
A Precious Little Angel
To Cherish and to Love.

A wee bit of heaven
drifted down from above-
A handful of happiness,
a heart full of love.

The mystery of life,
so sacred and sweet-
The giver of joy
so deep and complete.

Precious and priceless,
so lovable, too-
The world’s sweetest miracle,
baby, is you.
~Helen Steiner Rice

The best part about being a Tacoma newborn photographer is getting to meet great families.  I love when clients come back to see me for baby number two, three and four.  It is so good to see how their children have grown, to talk about previous newborn sessions (and how I got pooped on), catch up on the big events and changes…it is just a great thing to connect with people.  Being a Tacoma newborn photographer has really taught me more about being a people person.  And stepping outside my comfort zone to share and have real genuine relationships with people.  With this wonderful family I got to laugh as we reminisced about how mom’s maternity session basically put her into labor with baby number one.  And how big baby number two was, an incredibly handsome too by the way.  It just makes me so happy to have a client come back.

Here is my favorite image from Jackson’s sister’s session.  She is so adorable and will now get to be the best big sister ever!

Maddie is One!  I love celebrating birthdays.  I love one year olds.  My favorite feature of little Maddie’s is her eyes.  Her right eye has freckles.  How cool is that?  She has these beautiful gorgeous eyes, and then in her right eye two little amber speckles.  I think she couldn’t be any more adorable!  She is just a little porcelain dolly.  I haven’t pulled my bath set out for baby pictures in a long time.  It is a little bit more work than other sets that I use.  But Maddie was a thinker and she needed something that would keep her attention and allow me to have a few minutes to take some portraits.  I am so glad I pulled it out of the prop closet.  She was fascinated by the bubbles.  And I love how the simplicity of the set really shows off her perfect baby chub, and those eyes, again with those amazing eyes.  Baby pictures aren’t just portraits.  They are time capsules.  For the rest of forever her family will remember their busy, smart, perfectly chubby, porcelain skinned, blue eyed baby doll.  Just as she was here.

This little guy is a pro smiler.  He won a championship a month ago and just flew to Europe for the National competition.  He has been practicing for under a year and has already mastered the art.  He wins the judges over with the extra touch of showing off his little teeth with that great big happy grin.  This next year he will be courting sponsors and start a trust fund for himself for college.  Alan plans on charting up a charity to support less smile prone children across the world to deal with the issues that are preventing them from finding their smile and having joy.  Truly an accomplished boy for just being one.

Ok, that was all a silly made up story…

But it could be part truth.  It is amazing how much a smile does matter.  And when you are a happy person filled with joy your potential to do good in the world is limitless.

A smile can carry a person through so many of the hard things life throws at you.  Little orphan Annie was pretty brilliant with her understanding of that fact.

I found this is Forbes magazine:

A UC Berkeley 30-year longitudinal study examined the smiles of students in an old yearbook, and measured their well-being and success throughout their lives. By measuring the smiles in the photographs the researchers were able to predict: how fulfilling and long lasting their marriages would be, how highly they would score on standardized tests of well-being and general happiness, and how inspiring they would be to others. The widest smilers consistently ranked highest in all of the above.  And they had a longer lifespan!

Alan, with your beautiful smile I know that I will see you again someday.  I’ll be watching the news and here all about the big, wonderful things that you are doing to make a world a better place.  And I’ll pat myself on the back and say to myself, “I knew it.  All the way back when I was your Tukwilla baby photographer, I knew it!”

One of the great things about being a Tacoma newborn photographer is developing relationship with clients.  Getting to meet new clients means making new friends.  I friend request all of my clients on facebook after their sessions.  Mostly because I love keeping in touch, and watching these perfect little babies grow into awesome little people.  As years go by I get to know my clients better.  My favorite thing about having a good relationship with my clients is getting to meet new siblings.  Colin came to one of my favorite families.  I feel so blessed to be photographing a healthy second baby for this wonderful family.  After being a fan of my work for the last few years, Colin’s mom even had a dream shot that she wanted to capture of her new baby boy.  I am so glad she did.  It makes his session even more special that we were able to do that.  Her dream shot is the one of Colin hanging from the baby branch.  Funny enough that is kind of my dream shot too.  When I first started learning about newborn photography and exposing myself to the work of the masters in the field, I saw that type of shot and it captured me.  From that point on I knew I wanted to be a newborn photographer and to be able to take beautiful portraits like that for the wonderful families that trusted me to be their Tacoma newborn photographer.
