Days go by too quickly.  I know when you are in the trenches as a new parent they might seem like they last forever.  Sleepless nights tend to make all your days blend together into one long, grin and bear it kind of day.  But the reality is that these are the best days of your life and they are slipping through your fingers like tiny grains of salt in an hour glass.  These are the days that your princess is perfectly innocent.  She can do no wrong, she can’t break your heart, she hasn’t taken a black sharpie marker to your couch yet or chopped off all her bangs.  Today she is full of smiles and giggles and adoring love.  She wants you and sometimes only you will do.  Baby portraits, memories and little trinkets like her favorite dresses will soon be all you have of this most precious time.  A gateway back to the happiest days of your life.  Hire a Seattle baby photographer to keep her little and yours forever.

Never Grow Up

Your little hand’s wrapped around my finger
And it’s so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you’re dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything’s funny, you got nothing to regret
I’d give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I won’t let nobody hurt you, won’t let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, never grow up

A baby boy’s a promise
Of happy things to come-
Building blocks, a rocking horse
A baseball glove, a drum

There’ll be lots of noise and action
You’ll be brim-full of pride
A busy, loving, fun filled home
With lots of joy inside

Isn’t it wonderful to have little people in your life?  I know it is hard work.  Really, it is VERY hard work!  But when you are holding them close to you a realization hits you.  Before them you were lonely.  You might not have felt lonely.  But that is the only way to describe the opposite of the fullness you feel now.  As you watch your little person grow, and play and learn to express his love for you you are full to exploding of love.  I just went to Seattle to see the musical Matilda with my daughter.  One of the characters when describing Matilda and her genius describes how she must have so many brains that the extras are going to begin squeezing out of her ears.  That is how it works as a mother but with matters of the heart.  Your heart is so full you feel it must so be about to break its rib cage bounds and pour out all over.  The most miraculous thing happens though.  It doesn’t.  Your heart stays right where it is.  But it invisibly grows as year after year you love that little person more and more.  How is that possible, you will think?  And then when they are phasing through a tough patch you will have just enough of that special bread of love, unconditional love, to see you through.  If you are lucky, someday when listing their BFFs you will make the list.  Let me tell you how that feels.  Absolutely like wining the lottery.  Because your little person has grown, they are an amazing human being, and you can not believe that you are their mother.  And to be their friend….well that is just the very best!

Kent Newborn Phototgrpaher

He’s treasured by God.

The Lord has protected him.

God strengthens his son.

That is a clever little Haiku, written by yours truly based on the mean of this sweet baby’s name.  I love it when parents carefully select a baby’s name.  It’s OK not to too.  We chose our own kids first name based off of taste and sound.  But I think it makes a baby’s name extra special when parents have carefully pondered the decision and chosen a special meaning for their little one’s name.

Meet Zephaniah Ezekiel.  The cutest little bundle of chubby perfection.  Zephaniah’s mom chose me to be her Kent newborn photographer after seeing a display of beautiful portraits that I had up at her midwife’s office.  I immediately knew that this lucky mom had been to see Anne.   Ann has brought several of the baby’s that I have photographed into this world.  She has also helped many of my friends welcome new baby’s safely into their homes.  This woman must be one of the very most amazing people ever.  Every single mom that has worked with her raves about how absolutely wonderful she is.  Ann is the woman behind many, many, safe home births.  Ann’s service doesn’t just stop at delivering a baby safely.  She posts helpful information all the time on her Facebook page.  Even I follow her and my baby shop has been closed for several years.  What a wonderful blessing it is to have a woman that is 100% in your court their to help you preform a miracle.

I feel like little Zephaniah’s name extends to to love that that was there the day he was brought into the world.  As he made his way he had a father, a mother and a dedicated midwife there to treasure his arrival by making it as wholesome, natural and safe as possible.  He was carefully being watched over and protected.  And he was strengthen as well as his mommy for the journey her would make from womb to loving arms.  What a beautiful and sacred thing childbirth is.

“There is a power that comes to women as they give birth. They don’t ask for it, it simply invades them. Accumulates like clouds on the horizon and passes through, carrying a child with it.”

Mercer Island Newborn Photographer ~ Preston

Mercer Island Newborn Photographer

When Hillary hired me as her Mercer Island newborn photographer she wanted neutrals and natural posing.  I knew we were going to be a good match.  That just so happens to be right up my ally.  What I didn’t know is how wonderfully cooperative her older children were going to be.  They made little Preston’s session the success that it is.  I don’t often get to work with older siblings.  Usually I am trying to wrangle a 2 year old into getting close to the new baby.  They are suspicious, nervous and sometimes acting out with the new changes made to their family.  Bringing a new baby home can definitely turn a 2 year old’s world upside down.  But Ben and Molly were champs.  They were super comfortable and confident holding their new baby brother, even when he was being a stinker.  I look at these sweet sibling images of Preston with his big brother and sister and they make my heart so happy and I am not even the mommy.  I hope these portraits of these three perfect, Heaven sent children, will make their mommy super happy.

If you are looking to hire a Mercer Island newborn photographer please check out my gallery and pricing info.  I would be happy to serve your family.  And I am just a contact button away!
