This little guys mom hired me to be her Seattle newborn photographer with one request. She wanted lots of great shots of her brand new son with his big sister, and family. Easy! Especially when he is such an incredible sleeper! Ezra goes down in the history books as one of the easiest babies I have ever photographed. He slept like a champ and even when he was awake he was super chill. And he is such a chunk. Little muffins like him are my favorite to photograph because they just look so perfect with the chubby cheeks and rummy rolls. At almost 10 pounds this guy is starting out strong. Not only was Ezra easy, his three year old big sister was a dream. She cooperated perfectly with everything I asked her to do. I am so excited about the pictures I got for this family. I went way over my 35 image gallery. When it came time to cull and choose favorites to edit there were just too many great shots to narrow it down further. And no way do I EVER toss a great picture. Gasp! So this little family is about to be overloaded with 100% goodness. Happy Birthday little Ezra!

I love what I do. I love getting to meet amazing people and working with families during one of their happiest moments. Being a newborn photographer is sociable as much as it is artistic. Often times I get to see my newborn clients when their babies learn to sit and then when they celebrate their birthday. That is three times throughout the year that I get to catch up with awesome people and follow along with the growth of a tiny babe into a spunky and full of life toddler. It all starts with a newborn session. When my tiny subjects are just two weeks old ( or a month in this little angel’s case). I get to spend the morning stocking my baby fever by holding a sweet little thing and doing lots of rocking, soothing and cuddling. BEST JOB EVER! Little Ryder’s session was super fun because I got to work with what is sure to become a family heirloom. This pumpkin is posed on her Grandma’s saddle. The saddle she uses every time she rides. (I know…how is it so pristine looking!) Wouldn’t it be so fun to have her and this saddle back in the studio when she celebrates her birthday for a picture with her brother?! I thought it would be extra awesome to put a shot together of her with these toy horses too. Just a little fun play on her name and another shot to go with the saddle image. Little Ryder you are so blessed with such a wonderful family! I am so excited for your limitless future. PS….better learn to ride!

It can be so much fun to collaborate with parents on a theme for their baby’s photography session. I photographed Anna as a newborn and then again when she learned to sit and I just had her in the studio one last time to celebrate and commemorate her first birthday. Her mom and I shot a few ideas back and forth and decided to really focus on Spring and flowers. The really exciting part of our planning emails was that we decided to try something new. I only try new things with clients that have been in to see me enough that we have a great working relationship. Because the honest part about trying something new is that no matter how much you prepare it might just not turn out the way you have envisioned it in your mind. So everyone has to be on board that it is an artistic experiment. For Anna’s birthday session we decide to give her a milk bath. Milk bath portraits have been popular for a few years. I think when most photographers do them that is all they do at the session for the most part. Because they take a lot of prep and there is a lot of time in post production editing out splash marks that don’t look quite right. So I have never done them before. Because I like to offer my milestone clients a little more variety. When we decided to give this a go because it matched the theme of Anna’s session so perfectly I turned to a colleague for help. Tami, from Butterfly Kiss Photography, and I have been photographing babies as newborn photographers for nine years. Her studio is only a few minutes from mine. We have collaborated on triplets together and helped each other occasionally to push our businesses forward. Having a colleague that is open and honest in the relatively cut throat world of photography is a pretty special thing. I turned to her to borrow a basin for Anna’s session and she gave me the best advice on how to prepare the bath to photograph beautifully. I really appreciate that so much. So without further ado…I introduce to you Anna. One year old sweet perfection.

I am so excited to that this Bonney Lake family hired me to be their newborn photographer. We had met briefly during one of my mini sessions and it was so good to have them back for a full session when their little son arrived. While shooting emails back and forth as we prepared for the arrival of baby Thomas and his photography session we chose the colors light blue and light green. Then mom let me know that Dad is a hunter and fisher. I love that. I love that they want to incorporate things that are important to their family in their sons session. I can image the day that little Thomas gets to go on his first fishing trip with his Dad. Those are outings that are going to build a strong bond between this father and son. They will make so many memories together. So I scored the internet for ideas to bring Dad’s loves into Thomas’s session. Hopefully I will make him proud. Thomas has a little angel face and he looks so sweetly perfect in every single portrait that I took. His big sister was such a delight and the very most patient big girl ever. She was so sweet and such a good helper. I am especially excited to share with mom the pictures that I took of her sweet babies together. Sibling shots are one of the things I feel like I do pretty well. Maybe because I get along really well with little kids, lol. Thomas’s session was such a great one and I am really proud of the work I did for this wonderful family!
