As Lyndi walked out the door after her son’s one year milestone session she said that it was kind of bitter sweet walking away from her last session with me. That made me really sad. Awesome families are what makes my job so enjoyable. I think that two perfect beautiful children for this momma are not enough. She is patient and fun and rescues kittens from trees! How much cooler could you be. I will miss having a chance to catch up with her and will have to rely on Facebook from here on out, which is way less fun. It has been the greatest pleasure to be her Auburn baby photographer and to be a part of capturing so many special moments for her family.
Theo is just turning one. It seems like yesterday that he was here for his newborn portraits. He was a busy little man and didn’t prefer to sit still in my props. Good thing I have a great camera with fast shutter speed and experience having to be right on my toes to get awesome pictures of of one year olds. I have so many favorites from his session. My very faves are the close up portraits because I am over the moon in love with his auburn locks and perfect eyes. He is so beautiful! I didn’t include any cake smash pictures in my favorites because well…Theo didn’t prefer cake either, lol. In fact mom ended up with more frosting on her than he did. That happens a lot.

Almost every time a client emails me about a one year session for their little one it starts out something along the lines of, “Can you believe it? _______ is turning one!” No. No I can’t. How is it that time flies so fast in the happy moments of life. Right now in my stage of parenting I look at my kids and think I only have 3 more summers with her at home! SLOW DOWN TIME! As a young mother I was so caught up in the next phase. Or the very understandable desire for my babies to obtain milestones that made them more independent. Like walking. I hated the crawling phase. Or like learning to entertain themselves. Because there is only so much time you can immerse yourself into the world of ponies and bionicles without feeling like your brains are turning into pudding. I wish my older, wiser self could have visited the young mother me and told me how much I was going to miss it all. Snuggles, holding a pudgy hand, cuddling together on the couch a reading a book, giggles on the swing, constant love notes, etc… Now with two in college I feel desperate to even hear from them once a week. Brooks is full of toddler zeal. I am sure he is the apple of his mother’s eye. He is curious and sweet and super adorable. And one day he will be off on his own adventures. Thank goodness for beautiful portraits to mule over and reminisce all those wonderful good times that incapsilate his toddler-hood. Motherhood is hard. It is exhausting. It can feeling like down right warfare sometimes. But it is also the most rewarding soulfully fulfilling profession in the world!

Ruby’s mom came from Gig Harbor to have me take milestone portraits of her little princess. Ruby took a minute or two to get used to the lighting I use in my studio. I first ten or so images I got of her she is blinking awkwardly and trying to figure out what is going on. And then she blossomed. Once she was all warmed up and knew what was going on she smiled and danced through the rest of her session. She was a joy to photograph. Who has the very best cheese smile in all the world? Ruby does! I had to include a few extra pictures in her session gallery because I felt her mom couldn’t live without pictures of Ruby’s silly faces in her life. I seriously laughed out loud as I culled through these images to pick the very best. I am saving my second favorite silly face just for her family. Because you can’t share all the best pictures here. I love for there to be some really happy surprises when parents get their session packages in the mail. Once I won Ruby over she wanted to turn every prop into a rocking chair. This girl has a future in dance I promise. I hope you can tell in the portraits that I took of this little angel how beautiful her eyes are. I have never seen eyes this color. I want to say they are green, but then they have the warmest, richest brown specs. So probably hazel, but these eyes are not your normal hazel eyes. She is going to grow up and be the prettiest little lady, just like her mommy.

Being a Tacoma baby photographer is so rewarding. I love getting to meet new families. It makes me so happy to photograph beautiful little people so that their moms and dads can cement moments of happiness forever in their hearts. I wish that I had portraits like the ones I take of my own children when they were young. Instead I have terrible cheesy Sears portraits that are so dreadful they don’t have a coveted spot on my walls. I try every session to create classic works of art that will stand the test of time as trends come and go. These pictures of this sweet little birthday girl will hopefully be just as beautiful to family looking at them a hundred years from now as there are today. Julia, you sweet little cherub, I hope you continue to grow in happiness and health. Happy Birthday little princess!

We will have your children make a letter for Santa to let him know they are hoping to be on the nice list
and would like an extra special something under the tree this year.
Then the kids will ride on the Christmas tricycle express to get their letters off in the mailbox.
After all of the important business is done we will stop for a special Holiday photo just for mom.
