As a newborn photographer I have photographed babies in many things. Occasionally parents bring special things from home to use during their baby’s session. Sometimes magic happens. This case for Tucker’s Dad’s guitar couldn’t have been more beautiful. The fur interior and the imprint of the guitar’s strings make it a stunning piece. I hope someday Dad teaches his son to play and that one day as Tucker goes off to college he takes with him his father’s guitar. Special, classic pieces make special, classic portraits.
I am so thankful to be a part of celebrating the arrival of a baby. Being a Bonney Lake newborn photographer brings me so much joy. Celebrating a baby’s first moments with a family is such an honor. Thank you to the Pries family for choosing me to be your photographer and for inviting me to be part of the arrival of your precious baby boy. It is such an honor to have been part of the magic of bringing home baby number two!

A Father’s place is to preside, provide, to love and teach his children. These are the lyrics to a song I have been teaching my children. When I look at this image captured during Maverick’s Seattle newborn photography session, that is exactly what comes to mind. The reason we (as a collective ) love images like this, baby’s seen in the strong hands of their fathers, is because we all know those truths. Father figures are one of the pillars of the family. The magic in images like these is not just the juxtaposition of tiny baby and adult hands. It is what we read into the image. I see a Dad who is ready to give his all for his son. A Dad who has the strong desire to stretch from his duties to a loyal and true mate to his his wife – to a guardian, teacher and confidant to his son. I see hands that will hold, hands that will heal, hands that will strengthen a growing boy. I see how one life is so carefully reliant of the balancing act those hands will preform day in and day out. I see tenderness and love. A Father’s place is to be and do all those things. Maverick looks to be in very capable hands to me.

A little girl needs her Daddy for so very many things.
He puts her on his shoulders, so she can see everything.
He’s there when she gets hurt and tears run down her face.
He holds her close to his heart in his warm and loving embrace.
And when she grows to womanhood, Daddy’s never far away.
He’s always there in her heart and that is where he’ll stay.

Baby Photographers get to meet all kinds of cute little babies! And we get to use all sorts of fun props in our portraits. But the best props are simple, classic and meaningful ones. Able’s parents brought in this darling sailor’s hat that looks just like Grandpa’s special captains hat. I know Grandpa will LOVE it. I can just see pictures of the two of them together in the future. Grandpa steering the boat and his boy sitting proudly in his lap. I love being a part of memorable portraiture!

Just wanted to share one more image from Jaxon’s baby photography session. We had so much fun with his cake smash. But favorite part of his session was taking him outside to photograph him in his very own, pretty awesome wagon. I am really loving the images I am getting when it is warm enough to venture outside.
