Large Baby eyes smiling joyfully at me,
Baby eyes as blue as can be.
Two deep pools most innocent and bright,
To me are symbols of sheer delight.
May I greet you every single day?
For you are sunshine on my way.
Other people see you smile so sweet,
All are happier when you they meet.
Eyes are the windows to the soul,
No difficulties for you reaching your goal.
So sweet baby go on life’s way,
Those Baby eyes have much to say.

Hello. My name is Logan and I am so charming and adorable I will melt your heart. Seriously. His cuteness is unparalleled. Can a baby be debonair and cute at the same time. Oh how I love little boys. I wish I could have kept him! I must give a special shout out to his mommy for selecting such a perfect little outfit for her little man!
Maia’s parents came to see me for newborn photography from Normandy Park. I felt a little silly having to ask where that was. I guess I need to get out more! I was so grateful for a beautifully warm day last week. I have been challenging myself to try to take more outdoor portraits this year. As a professional photographer I set goals for myself to stretch and grow. Mastering outdoor shots like this one is one of my goals for 2014. I have been so blessed with a beautiful backyard. As I was photographing sweet, precious Maia in my nest in the studio, I keep thinking about how great it would be to carry her outside. With an 80 degree day, and her all bundled up, that was a total possibility. I left Mom in charge of watching over her and stepped outside to scout for a perfect spot. This little gem was right around the corner. I am so very excited to share it with her family. Summer is almost here and hopefully that will mean even more of these unique and natural set ups!

Meet Vienna. A pretty name for a pretty baby girl. I love being a Seattle newborn photographer. I got to meet Nathan and Haley a few months ago when they came to visit me for a maternity portraits. I have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of their first baby. I knew with such a great looking mommy that she was going to be super photogenic. Her parents named her Vienna Vay. I teased them that it is a movie star name, meant for bright lights and a red carpet.
But there is more to her name than just its beautiful sound. They loved the name Vienna but kept it secret, like many parents, until her arrival. Vienna’s Grandma, who Haley suspects has a gift for foresight, had a dream that they named her Sienna. She was pretty close. Vienna’s middle name, Vay is from her Grandmother. I love when parents make their baby’s grandparent’s their namesakes. It is a beautiful thing. And Vay just sounds so beautiful with Vienna. Haley brought her Grandmother’s necklace with her to the session and asked me to incorporate it in Vienna’s portraits. I chose to have sweet baby girl hold the necklace, like she is holding tight to her roots. I love sweet and simple personal touches like a Grandmother’s necklace.

As a Tacoma newborn photographer every once in a while I get to photograph a baby who is a surprise. These “bonus” babies always make me smile. Maybe it is because I had a surprise of my own and can’t imagine my life without her. I truly feel like bonus babies fought to be part of the families that they come to. I imagine that there is a line up in Heaven with everyone waiting their turn in the proper order. But every so often a little spirit goes rouge and says, “I can’t wait any longer” …. or “I have to be part of that family”. Whatever the reason these little people, I think, make a deliberate choice to come to Earth and join their chosen families. It is like the reverse of traditional family planning. Normally it is the parents deciding when to welcome a little one to their family. Sometimes babies just can’t wait a single day longer. I know this is the case with little Theo. His parents are so awesome. Who wouldn’t want to be part of their family. He has probably been watching from Heaven. Finally he cut in line, took a risk and took matters into his own hands. I love that! And I know that Theo is going to be a gift to his parents. Bonus babies are little nuggets of treasure that leak out of Heaven.
