When I was hired to be this family’s Tacoma newborn photographer for their first daughter I was challenged with the concept of creating a Snow White themed session for them. They had the cutest dress for her and are serious Disney fans. Fortunately I had a perfect tree stump prop that made their vision possible. Being a photographer that is pretty minimalist with props and posing it can be hard to meet the visionary needs of some parents. But I am always up for a challenge. I knew before hand that with baby Emma her moms wanted to create a Cinderella theme. I thought and thought about how to make that possible in a subtle and classic way. I decided that blue and white was a must and that she must have a carriage shot of course. So the planning began. We started off with a cute little shot of Emma in her Cinderella dress. Then by incorporating a dainty crown, some florals in the perfect pastel hues and of the most amazing carriage I think I did a pretty awesome job of making Emma’s session Cinderella themed while staying true to my classic style. I am so so so excited to share a sneak peek of her session. I love surprising moms with awesome shots of their newborns. I hope these images go above and beyond the vision that they had for their daughters session. Drum roll please…

I give the best gifts. I just have to pat my own back, lol. Being a newborn photographer means that when my best friends have babies I can use my talents to bless them with a gift that will forever make them happy. Since Mercedes moved into my neighborhood she has blessed my life. She has taught me how to make lumpia. She throws the BEST parties. She has taken my daughters under her wing and been a super awesome role model. She supports me in whatever I do. She is a pillar of strength and always is at the root of the all the good things. Maria is her 5th beautiful daughter. And if they all get to look like their mother she has given them a dang good start in the world. Now, if they all are as smart and kind as her then she did it all right. This week she is moving. Which makes me so sad. Life without Mercedes will be a little duller. I am kind of (but not really) hoping she hates Yakima and that her hazelnuts trees decide to not grow so she will come back to us in Puyallup. At least I know I have sent her off with the best gift I can give. Congrats on another beautiful baby girl!

I think, if I have done my math right, that I have been photographing this wonderful family for five years! Five years has brought three beautiful babies to this family. Each of them has had their time to be in the spotlight at my studio. Just look at these three beautiful babies! Here they are all at one years old when they came to see me for their cake smash to celebrate their first birthday. They all have their own unique personalities but you can definitely tell they are siblings. Those eyes are all so stunning. I haven’t ever really looked at Mom and Dad to see who it is that these gorgeous eyes have come from. Green and golden and so bright and full of life.
This last week was Trevor’s turn to have a birthday portrait session. He has’t really mastered standing yet. He decided that belly flops were the thing for the day and even though he is a great sitter we had to spot him extra carefully as this little adrenaline junkie decided that diving off of props looked like lots of fun. So I had to edit out moms are holding him safely in place. That’s why you hire a professional right!? He is the smiliest of his siblings and it was no work at all to coax a huge grin out this little muffin over and over and over again. Next week he will celebrate his birthday with family and friends and I have no doubt he will eat up not only being the center of attention, but his birthday cake as well. He tore into his cake at the studio! Which is another achievement under his belt, he beat his brother and sister in that category as well. Little Trevor is a bringer of joy! I am so excited to share his birthday portraits with his family!

This mamma knows how to rock the shot. She is so much fun to photograph. I have taken maternity portraits for her twice now and every time she is perfect at taking direction and always up for whatever I want to try at her session.
