Puyallup Baby Photographer ~ Good Sport

I have the best babies that come to see me.  I love being a baby photographer.  Koben has grown so much since his newborn session.  His still has that perfect creamy skin he sported at just a few days old!  He is such a little butter ball.  I swear parents could drop their babies off for the day so I could play and snuggle and get some portraits too!  I really wanted to just sit and snuggle this handsome fellow!  He was so curious, eyes wide open following my every move.  And what a flirt.  Every time a talked to him he smiled, dimples and all.  He stole my heart.  I am so excited for him and his family.  They will be traveling to Puerto Rico soon to show off their newest addition to their family.  I told his mommy to keep an eye out.  So twitterpated auntie just might try to steal him!  I know I would!

Puyallup Newborn Photographer – Daddy’s Boy

Being a newborn photographer I get to meet all sorts of men and women fresh to their roles as mother and father.  It is kind of like being that fly on the wall.  Some are stressed.  Most sleep deprived.  A few are lost with all the newness and change.  My favorites are the ones that are over the moon in love.  This is Alexander, lovingly nicknamed Lex.  He came into the world in a flutter of emergency.  Nearly gave his Grandma a heart attack and succeeded in wearing out his Mom and Dad to the point of utter exhaustion.  But like the old English proverb “in like a lion out like a lamb”, he has proven to be a total sweet heart.  You wouldn’t have any idea he insisted on making such a grand entrance!  I love the way his Dad put it.  “Every time Roxanne would push he was climbing his umbilical cord trying to crawl back in!”  Speaking of his Dad…

This little guy is the apple of his eye.  I love when I have doting dads at portrait sessions!  He had a smile from ear to ear.  He wanted to help any way he could.  Watching the way he held his son and looked in his eyes with that tender look melted my heart.  Lex you are a lucky boy!  Because you are your Daddy’s Boy!

Fairy Child

Sharing something other than newborn photography today.  For over a year I have been following the work of Heather from Fairyography.  She amazes me.  Every session is sweet.  She has magic powers as far as I am concerned.  I don’t think I have ever know someone so creative.  And she has a heart of gold too.  Last year she asked if I wanted to be part of a Cinderella collaboration.  I wanted to badly, but I let my fear of trying something new own me.  Watching those portraits come out my heart sank.  I should have tried.  But I was intimidated.  This year with a theme like “Fairy” (I am crazy about fairy lore) I had to be brave.  I stressed for months about it.  I had so many wonderful ideas.

In the end I suffered from procrastination and indecision.  I wanted to create something so stunning.  I had ideas about driving to gorgeous locations in Oregon and the Hoh rain forest here in Washington.  Life always gets to busy!  So on the day before I left town I ran to Michaels, bought lots of pretty things and went to work.  I wish I had hired a hair and make up artist.  But this is what an hour of throwing together a costume looks like.  I figured I wanted her to look a little wild so it was OK that we were winging it, lol.

On my bucket list I have fairy portraits with the great Heather of Fairyography.  But for now the girls have to make due with Mom.  This is Kate, my second daughter.  She is 9 and this IS “her”.  She is wild and sweet.  She is a free spirit.  A deeply thinking artist.  She loves animals with a protective spirit that I have never seen in another child.  I love her.

Check out the other amazing work from the artists that participated in this collaboration.

Tacoma Newborn Photographer ~ Life, A Beautiful Story

I edited Adelaide’s newborn portraits while listening to some really lovely piano music.  It was poignant.  I thought about her parents holding her for the first time.  The moments of bonding together in the hospital.  That triumphant moment when Dad probably carried her through the door of their home.  I envisioned tears, hugs, mother rocking her against her breast.  It was like an amazing cinematic story unraveling in my mind as I edited her images.  A beautiful moment.  Just as scientist haven’t been able to create life in a test tube, Hollywood can not capture those truly magical moments that happen in families.  She is tiny, only a few days old…but already she has brought magic into at least two lives.  She has started to write her own story and already it is beautiful!

Puyallup Baby Photographer – Beautiful Mind

Happy Birthday Connor!  Every once in a while I have very active babies come to see me for portraits.  Connor was definitely one of them.  By the end of his session I needed a shower and a nap.  An energy drink would have been helpful too!  Parents always worry when their little ones are a little harder to wrangle.  I always try to put them at ease.  Like many of my pint sized baby clients this handsome little fellow was very curious about the studio.  His little eyes were taking it all in.  He wanted to walk over and check everything out.  And pictures were definitely not on his to do list.  But patients all wins.  With a patient and helpful mommy you just can’t go wrong.  We had to be quick to catch him before he was on the go again, but we did it, together.  This image is my vary favorite.  He has sure grown since his newborn session.  Here’s to hoping his Mom will love this one as much as I do!
