Five years ago this sweet family hired me to be their Puyallup newborn photographer. Their son has grown up so fast. Just a few weeks ago they were back in my studio to celebrate the arrival of a precious new addition to their family. Baby sister, Elliana got to have her day of fame and glory. We had to struggle through a gassy tummy which happens every so often. But this little lady was a champ. Whenever I have the opportunity to do a session with an older sibling those sibling pictures are inevitably my very favorites. Big kids can hold their new babies with confidence and without the awkwardness that siblings close in age have. Since I love these pictures of these sweet kids I am pretty confident that mom is going to love them even more. Oh what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall when she gets to see them here for the first time. I tease when I tell people my goal is always to make moms cry. But in all seriousness that is exactly what I aim for. Tears of happiness and joy. I am so blessed to be able to capture fine art portrait for families celebrating the arrival of new babies. Being a Puyallup newborn photographer is the best job in the whole world.

These beautiful pictures of baby Ava celebrating her first birthday are all due to two things. Incredibly patient parents who were excellent sports dealing with their tired little princess and the very best big brother in the whole world. Seriously I should hire Aiden right on the spot as my new assistant. He has some kind of magic powers to make his little sister smile. She absolutely adores him and only had eyes for him. What a great team these two kids are. I love bigger gaps between kids because it really allows for kids to truly have their own role and dynamic in a family. Aiden is really living up to his calling as big brother. And little Ava is going to be the quintessential spunky princess baby sister. Little Ava has had a year of reaching for and meeting so many milestones. Her session celebrates the little lady she is becoming. I love these pictures that explore her personality and spunk. The last time I had this wonderful family in the studio for portraits we were celebrating the happy arrival of healthy twins! What a special day that was. They were so tiny and fragile. What a difference not having to share the womb makes. Their new baby brother had it all to himself and he is so big and pudgy he looks like his brother probably did when he was three months old, lol. Jaxon is the cutest little squish you have ever seen. He was totally chill too. Just a happy little man. It was so awesome to see the twins back all grown up and even more awesome to see them holding and tending to their brand new baby brother! Such sweet moments! At one point during Jaxon’s portrait session I turned to his mommy and said, ” It’s a lot easier with one isn’t it!” Not just taking newborn pictures but LIFE. I image tending to this cute little muffing feels like a cake walk after being broken is with twins. I am super excited to share my favorite images from this little guy’s newborn session, of which there are many. I wonder which image will be him mommy’s favorite?

I am so excited to be photographing a second baby for this wonderful family. This time they are expecting a baby girl!!! So exciting. I love maternity sessions with older siblings. They bring that extra show of love to a session. Big brother is going to have so much fun looking out for the brand new tiny princess in the family. I can’t wait to have this family back in the studio when baby arrives. Taking portraits of this awesome kiddo holding his sister is going to make my day. When you have a brand new baby join your family, every single moment is a miraculously happy one. Even mother’s drunk with sleepiness will attest to the fact that all it takes is to hold their sleepy bundle of perfection, to smell their sweet skin and to kiss that soft spot on the neck to make it all worth it. The awkwardness and discomfort of pregnancy, the pain of labor, the sleepless selfless days that follow…are rewarded with soft hand holding their own, smiles lighting up a dimpled face and the burrowing snuggle into the bosom that melts every mothers heart. Babies are miracles. Women deliver miracles. Motherhood is the closest thing to Godhood here on Earth that I can think of. Mothers bring life. Being able to work with families to create beautiful works of art to document all of this is the best job in the whole world. For nine months Wesley’s mother worked to create this little bundle of perfection. And here he is. Sweetly sleeping in all of the softness. These pictures seal memories. The lock away those happy feelings of overwhelming pride and happiness. So that today becomes forever. I have always thought that the three best jobs in the world are to be a mother that creates life, the doctor who delivers it and the photographer who captures it.
