Matua is such a beautiful name.  While I was working on posing this little charmer and I kept saying his name as I rocked and soothed him to sleep.  It rolled right of my lips and sounds strong and soft at the same time, my favorite kind of name.  So I had to ask his mom how she chose his name.  She told me about her family’s Polynesian heritage and that Matua was a legendary Polynesian King who lead his people east to be the first settlers of Rapa Nui (Easter Island).  How totally cool is that!  He was the perfect little Prince, at a month old he was calm and happy and even fell asleep for me so that we could get some really, really awesome portraits!  He is one of the most beautiful babies I have ever photographed.  When his mom contacted me she was worried that she had missed the newborn photography deadline, I am so glad that she did, because look at these beautiful portraits of her baby boy!  Look at this perfect awake shot too!  Awake shots of newborns never look this good, lol.  Those little people are still cross eyed.  Here are my favorites portraits from this little man’s session!!!
